Pueblo Zoo
A 25-acre, year-round zoo hosting over 420 animals across 140+ species. Located inside historic City Park, it offers a manageable, family-friendly walk that takes about 1.5 hours to fully explore. The original core of the Pueblo Zoo was built between 1933 and 1940 as a Great Depression-era public relief project. The city began gathering animals as early as the turn of the 20th century.
Sangre De Cristo Arts & Conference Center

Visit this multi faceted campus regional art center that has been serving the many art forms since 1972. Visit the six art galleries featuring southwest and traveling regional, national and international collections. Bring the kids to the award-winning Buell Children's Museum, attend an event or watch a music, dance or theatre performance in it's quaint 500-seat performing arts theater.

City Park Rides

Located inside the historic Pueblo City Park, the city park rides are an affordable, nostalgic amusement park featuring 10 vintage rides including the 1911 Historic Carousel ( A beautifully preserved antique carousel set up locally in 1940) Miniature Train that rides around the lake, a mini roller coaster, tiny Ferris wheel and other nostalgic amusement park rides. Individual tickets cost only 25¢. Pueblo City Park is a sprawling 157-acre park. Established in 1904, it offers a wide range of amenities including walking paths, bocce courts, a dog park, a disc golf course, and two beautiful lakes, Horseshoe Lake and Lake Joy.

Historical Society's Heritage Museum
Learn about Pueblo's historical past. Exhibits covering Pueblo's historical flood of 1921, artifacts and pictural exhibits, horse carriages, saddles, and more. Located across the street from the historic Pueblo Union Depot.

Rosemount Museum

Built in 1893, this 37-room mansion was home to the John A. and Margaret Thatcher family and was named for Mrs. Thatcher's favorite flower. Designed by noted New York architect Henry Hudson Holly and two years under construction, the mansion was completed in 1893. Nearly all furnishings, accessories, decorative arts, paintings, custom woodwork, wall and window treatments are original to the home. As seen on A & E cable network's nationally televised "America's Castles" and the HGTV Series "Christmas Castles"

Steelworks Museum

Located in the historic former Colorado Fuel and Iron Company (CF&I) medical dispensary building. It preserves the rich industrial history of the American West through massive archival collections, mining artifacts, and cultural exhibits showcasing the diverse workforce that built the region.

Union Depot

Pueblo Union Depot is the historic railroad station in Pueblo, Colorado. It was built in the Richardsonian Romanesque style in 1889–1890 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. It is located within the Union Avenue Historic Commercial District.

Pueblo Fire Fighters Historical Center

The fire museum is operated by the Pueblo Firefighters Historical Society, which is dedicated to the preservation and presentation of the history of the Pueblo Fire Department and its firefighters. This historic building is a reportedly haunted. Stories tied to the site usually focus on apparitions and shadowy sightings and disembodied voices, screams, footsteps and moving objects.

The Slabs

Located on the north end of Dundee Park on Elizabeth Street, The Slab is four basketball courts, that are lighted and open from 6am-10pm. A local favorite, The Slab originally opened in the 1954 was recently completed with brand new concrete and most notably vibrant, beautiful artwork which was designed and painted by local artists. Courts are free to the public.

Traces the cultural history of the region. Established in 1959 at the site of an airport hangar, this museum also exhibits artifacts from the excavations carried out in the region.

Pueblo Waterworks Park

Waterworks Park is an $11 million riverfront recreation area located along the Arkansas River in
Pueblo, CO, just north of City Park. Spearheaded by Pueblo Water to rehabilitate the historically dangerous Southside Diversion Dam, the park officially celebrated its grand opening in March 2025. The project successfully transformed the stretch into a fully navigable, family-friendly water playground equipped with drop pools, chutes, wading areas, and whitewater features.

Whitewater Kayak Park & Pueblo River Trail System
Access at Chappa Place and Pearl St, Downtown
The Whitewater Park or as known as The Kayak Park, is located in downtown Pueblo. It is within walking distance of shops and restaurants in the Historic Downtown District between Union Ave. and the West 4th Street Bridge. The park has eight (8) drops and is approximately 1/2 mile long. The names of the drops and pools reflect the paintings, Drop 3 is a rabbit, Drop 5 is raccoons. The north bank of the river is home to the Pueblo Levee Mural Project.
The main access is from Pillar Park via Chapa Place, take out is at Union Ave. There is also a parking lot located on the southside of the trail located at the Main St. Trailhead on Corona Ave. and Main Street. Parking along Corona Street and walking down to the river is also an option. Please take note, this is a real river and not an amusement play park.

Pueblo Riverwalk

The Historic Arkansas Riverwalkis a premier 32-acre urban waterfront promenade located in the heart of downtown Pueblo, CO. It features beautifully landscaped walking paths guided boat rides, pet friendly and health promoting walking path, waterfalls, fountains, historical sculptures, and localized dining options. The channel brings the Arkansas River back to its original historic path before it was diverted after the devastating 1921 flood.

Pueblo Levee Mural Project

Founded in 1972 Along the Historic Arkansas River. "The Largest Outdoor Mural Gallery in the World" in the Guinness World Book of Records from 1995-2016. These murals spanned the concrete levee wall along the Historic Arkansas River, in Pueblo Colorado. The wall was built in 1921 after the 1921 flood that left downtown Pueblo under 25 ft. of water. The river waters were diverted to the present location and this 65 ft. concrete wall was built to protect the city from future large floods.

Colorado State Hospital Museum
The Colorado State Hospital Museum is a small and unique, historical museum in Pueblo, CO, that preserves and explores the intensive history of the state's primary psychiatric hospital, originally founded in 1879 as the Colorado State Insane Asylum. Historical Exhibits features authentic artifacts from the original facility, including an ornate 19th-century Mosler Bahmann & Co. safe, institutional cornerstones, plaques, and early medical equipment. Displays trace the shift from the 1870s "Board of Lunacy Commissioners" era to modern psychiatric care practices. Tours are frequently hosted by passionate, knowledgeable local docents who offer deeply detailed narratives of the staff and campus history.
LOCAL FARMS
Pueblo is world-renowned for its green chile because it produces a highly distinct, deeply flavorful heirloom variety called the Mirasol pepper, which thrives in the unique agricultural ecosystem of the Arkansas River Valley. Unlike many mass-produced peppers, the Pueblo chile is widely recognized for its unusually thick, meaty texture and its signature habit of growing pointing straight up toward the sun (giving it the name "Mirasol," meaning "looking at the sun"). The region's hot, dry summer days combined with cool high-desert nights pack a much bigger culinary punch than most regional alternatives. Visit these local farms who grow many types of produces as well as baking local Italian and 'Bojon' desserts.
